How did we get here?

It does not seem all that long ago when you could find 2 bottles of Pappy Van Winkle 23 year old on the shelves year-round. Old Rip moved faster, but we wouldn’t sell more than a bottle or two a month. Elmer T. Lee and Blanton’s were staples in the Bourbon section and were available anytime you walked in the store. Then came Anthony Bourdain and BOOM!

Over the years, Bay Ridge Wine & Spirits had tried to make these Bourbons available in a way we thought was fair and diplomatic. By creating a list of customers who wanted them. After about 3 years, we realized that this was not a viable option, since our requests outnumbered our allocation by about 100:1, so we stopped taking names and decided to go in a different direction. Last year we finally worked our way through every name on our ‘list’ and decided that with all the craziness associated with these items, we would try to have some good come of it and donate the monies from the Auction to a local non-profit.

Thanks to our friends at Eastport Liquors who have been doing this for years (Thank You Dan and crew!), Bay Ridge Wine & Spirits has decided to Auction off our entire allocation from Sazerac, along with a few other gems that we have squirreled away during the year. EVERY PENNY we raise will be donated to The Boys & Girls Club Annapolis Anne Arundel. A lot of money has been raised by Eastport Liquors over the years for Seeds 4 Success, and we hope to able to do the same for BGCAAC.

This website has been created to make your auction experience very easy. It’s a “live auction” where you can see the top bid as each bid comes in. There are 39 bottles available this year. You may bid on one, some, or all of the bottles, and you are welcome to bid as often as you like. The bidding will begin on Monday, December 9th, at 9:00am, and the bidding will stop on Sunday, December 15th at 9:00pm. All winners will be contacted by phone and must submit payment to secure their bottle(s). If the winner chooses not to purchase their bottle, the second-place bidder will then be declared the winner, and so on. No names or personal information are shared on the site, so you are safe if you are purchasing as a gift.
